YTT Student Story - Vanessa Ameixa

Vanessa Ameixa is a student in our 230-hour Yoga Teacher Training. In this teacher training program, Vanessa has experienced shifts and personal growth she never found elsewhere. Hear Vanessa shares her yoga journey and thoughts on the program.

What made you want to study Yoga and become a teacher?

Yoga came into my life at a time I really needed it.

To be honest, I always thought yoga was mainly just stretching and doing poses, and I was never really a fan of it. I was more into higher intense workouts. However, when I started to dabble into some yoga practice, I was HOOKED! Not only was it keeping me physically fit, but it was also helping me mentally and spiritually and has changed my life so much. This is one reason I decided to take the training. I thought to myself, “if it has helped me this much, I want to help others who feel just like I did!” Another reason I took the program was because of the teachers at Jai Yoga, Prem, Jai and Joanne have inspired me and have helped me grow so much. I am truly thankful for it.

What do you think of the curriculum?

I absolutely LOVE it! I have learned so much about YOGA, as well as so much about myself.

Learning about the background of Yoga is so inspiring to me. Learning about the methodology, philosophy, and the human body has just opened my eyes on how your body, mind and soul really connect and work together to become more blissful.

Were there any challenges in the program?

For me, one of the biggest challenges is that the program takes up my entire weekend. I have 3 children, so I often feel guilty for not being with them on the weekends. However, I know that I am doing something healthy for myself and it will benefit me being an even better mom and showing my kids a true way to live life!

What do you enjoy the most about the program?

I am so thankful for all the wonderful people I get to spend my weekends with and for building up a wonderful sisterhood with my fellow yoga . I have learned so much on how to look within and knowing there are people out there who are just like me. At the beginning of the YTT program, we were told by our amazing teachers that this program has chosen us and I can feel it’s true. I’m so grateful to be apart of this amazing group of people!
